Australia Post has been known to “lose” packages in the past and will, most likely, continue to do so.

Therefore the  REGISTERED POST option has been adopted to ensure that, should an item be lost/damaged in transit, some form of compensation can be obtained by the purchaser.  It also provides proof that the item has been lodged over the counter at the Post Office.
